This practical workshop for people who have some experience of fundraising, will take you through the process of writing appeals and funding applications. Using successful techniques as examples, the trainer will guide you through participatory activities where you will co-operate to complete appeals and funding applications to the highest standard. The course will cover:

  • Researching which funders you can apply to, including charitable trusts, statutory and corporate bodies, as well as wealthy individuals
  • Perfecting technique of making your appeal respond to potential donors’ requirements and motivations
  • Whether to submit an appeal, proposal or application form – it is highly important that you know the key differences
  • Familiarisation with the basic structures and tools required to write any successful application.
  • Expressing your organisation’s unique selling point (USP) in a compelling and clear manner
  • Budgeting and presenting financial information in the right way

Handouts will be available on the day, drawing on the styles and techniques employed on appeals previously written by the trainer.
