What We Do
Working Together Project (WTP) provides an extensive package of training and learning to charities, community groups, social enterprises (third sector) and the public sector. The training we deliver falls under the five broad headings below:
But don’t let these categories limit your horizons…
WTPs work divides into two main strands – community training and organisational development – as well as a third strand – learning space – that is in development (and may be some time!).
Community Training
Our community training strand supports activities and services in our local communities in Sussex by providing free and low cost learning to the third sector. This is at the root of WTPs success; we are close to our own third sector and understand the challenges that our communities face.
All our training and learning responds directly to outreach and ongoing feedback from local community groups and voluntary organisations, community activists, volunteers, paid staff, management committee members and social entrepreneurs based in Sussex and is delivered in community venues around the county.
The following work areas support our community training strand:
Neighbourhood Training in Brighton and Hove
WTP brings people from neighbourhoods together to collectively design their own training, development and accreditation opportunities that help people run their groups more effectively, tackle shared problems and deliver community run activities and services.
Community Leadership in Brighton and Hove
WTP delivers a range of courses that support people to have a strong voice, to influence decisions and lead change in their community, their organisation or the cross-sector partnerships that they are involved in.
Short Courses in Brighton and Hove, West and East Sussex
We are perhaps still best known for our comprehensive short course programme, which offers staff, volunteers and management committee members low cost or free, intensive, short bursts of learning – taking account of the limited time that you have available – and that cover all of the essential skills for our sector.
Organisational development
Our organisational development strand supports third and public sector organisations in the UK by providing competitively priced training and development. Building on the work we’ve done in Sussex, we think we have something new to offer the wider world of training and learning.
The following work areas support our organisational development strand:
Inspirational Leader Effective Manager
WTP believes that you can’t have great organisations without great leaders who instill leadership at all levels of their organisation. With that in mind we’ve devised a year long mixed programme of residential training, mentoring and supported learning to bring out the leadership potential in the managers of today, and the management potential in the leaders of tomorrow.
Courses by the Sea
This is our low cost short course programme for anyone that falls outside of the geographic area of Sussex, enabling the whole of the UK’s third and public sectors to take advantage of our exceptional training in the heart of sunny Brighton.
In-house and Bespoke Training and Facilitation
If none of our existing courses suit your organisations needs, then we will work with you to create a bespoke course specially to match your requirements. We can work with you to develop workshops, training days, team building events, facilitated meetings or coaching sessions – whatever and wherever suits you best!
Learning Space
Our learning space strand is still in development, but reflects the need to respond to the 21st century learner – both in terms space and resources for online learning, as well as appropriate physical space and resources that best meet the needs of people, organisations and communities.
The following work areas will support our learning space strand:
E-learning
Both to provide a resource for new and existing learners, WTP will provide access to e-learning courses / modules, as well as provide a forum for learners to get support from one another and their trainer, and get help to problem solve as they implement what they have been learning about.
Specialist Training Centre
To enable us to create the best possible learning environment and to make WTP more sustainable so that we can deliver more training and support to local communities, we are keen to develop and run our own training centre.
